Feature and Article Writing

Annabel Smith has been a member of the British Guild of Beer Writers for over ten years. She is an accomplished writers of features, articles and columns for a number of clients.

She contributes a regular monthly article for in house trade brochures for Molson Coors, Carlsberg UK, and Enterprise Inns. In addition, she is engaged to write the technical features for Carlsberg’s award winning annual Tapster’s catalogue.

During 2016 she wrote a weekly column for The Daily Telegraph magazine, matching a particular dish to a beer style and brand (you can see some articles on There's A Beer For That).

She writes a weekly blog for Cask Marque, entitled ‘Something for the Weekend’ which combines a suggested beer for readers to try, combined with a travelogue style commentary about where the beer comes from.

She co-created the Thwaites ‘Beer Bible’ for their tenants which was shotlisted for an Award at the Guild of British Beer Writers Awards ceremony in 2016.

She advises the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body and compiles content for their Cellar Management Manual which accompanies the Award in Beer and Cellar Quality qualification.

She also contributes to CAMRA’s ‘What’s Brewing’ newspaper, and local CAMRA magazines.
She is routinely commissioned by brewers, brand owners and the trade press to write bespoke columns offering opinions and advice about beer for readers.

BeerBelle is consummately professional in her research. The quality of content and thorough exploration of the topic she is commissioned to write about are a priority to ensure client satisfaction.

What Clients Say

A belated note to thank you very much for the sessions you delivered on Wednesday for the team.  They thoroughly enjoyed the tasting and matching – there was a real buzz in the office with many commenting ‘I never realised beer could taste so different with food’ ‘can’t wait to go and check out the beers in my local shop’ and so on.  It was so good to hear and all down to your delivery and engaging style – you’re a natural!

Barbara Hosier, Publican Recruitment Manager, Enterprise inns

Annabel was fab in the session I attended; my knowledge of cask was very simplistic going into the session.

Aaron Miller, Molson Coors

Annabel, thank you for running such a great training session at my team meeting in London on Tuesday. The team were very engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the session.

James Armitage, Director of Sales and Marketing, Enterprise Inns

Adrian Rigby, Carlsberg UK

I just wanted to say thank you for delivering such a great course last week. It seems that I have a lot to do here but I’m sure we’ll get it done! Your advice, time and guidance were a great help.

Clare Alleway-Hayes, Acting House Manager, HF Holidays Ltd

I just wanted to say thank you so much for your great and informative session on beers at the Waitrose event on Friday 14th at the Finchley Road branch.

I have just passed my Wine Specialist WSET Level 2 exam and will be spending the next 5 months going through various modules in my work book to complete the qualification. One of the modules concerns training other Partners, and after your inspirational session I thought I would attempt a beer training and tasting session for a small group of 4 or 5 people - after all, it's not just all about the wine! I don't think my session will be as polished as yours, but I'll give it a go!

Many thanks again for a great afternoon, I really enjoyed it!

Ray Siberini, Waitrose BWS Manager
